False Positives

As it states, here are many ways outside influences (besides ghosts and spirits) can affect an investigation. These pictures show dust as public enemy number one along with other natural misunderstandings.

A convincing orb but really just dust!

To think we breathe all that dust in.

I hate dust... this is why we don't look for orbs.

We were on the ropes with this one but it is just light reflecting off the metal, or dust.

Dust again!

Ectoplasm! Nah, just smoke from an extinguished match.

Notice these two different size orbs taken at Snug Harbor. Maybe convincing to some, but of course just dust.

Look carefully and you will see a face in the door window at the end of the hall. However, it is important to realize that this is just flash reflection. Faces that "appear" to be imbedded in objects like windows and such is also known as matrixing, and is not considered paranormal. (save to computer and "zoom in")

On cold nights, breath can easily be mistaken as ectoplasm mist.

Background lights and plant life also create interesting effects

Wow! This orb is kind of bright so it must be real right? Nah, just normal outdoor particles catching the camera flash. Remember, true orbs give off light they don't reflect it!

Well, this orb seems to be moving leaving a tail so it too must be real. Nope! Small insects such as gnats and flies that zip around in front of the camera at the time of flash do give us that genuine orb-like tail, but in the end is still a false positive.
